Sewing is the Bane of my Life

Sewing is the Bane of my Life

Sewing is the bane of my life.

I decided that it is a good idea to make labels for my T-shirts and sew them in myself.  They’ll look professional and save me some money!

I have to say, the labels I ordered came out fantastically.  The company I ordered from ( specialises in small quantity orders of woven labels, made to your specifications.

To be honest… I wasn’t sure what to expect.  This was an entirely new field for me to be investing time and money into so I was worried my design was going to be too detailed… or it wouldn’t stand out and I’d have some random woven smudge to sew it but the results speak for themselves.  Bravo to the people over at labelname!

This is the part where I have to sew.

Now just to get my invisible thread and my needle and put the thread through the eye… and PUT. THE. THREAD. THROUGH. THE. EYE.  UGGGH.  Put the thread through the – there we are.  Then poke it through the taffeta, no problem there… pull it through and OH GREAT THE THREAD HAS COME OUT OF THE NEEDLE.

After thumbling around like this for 10 minutes, stabbing myself on occasion and finally stitching an entire side down I remember the old adage “If you can’t tie knots, tie lots and lots and lots.”  I proceed to sew 3-4 knots at the end of my thread.  The label is now attached.

Proud of my work and how awesome it looks I give it to the excited recipient who proceeds to grab a pair of scissors and gently cut out the label “Oh I don’t like labels, they make me itch hee hee”.

Sewing is the bane of my life.

  2. Thanks for your comment, so kind!
I am currently setting up our new blog – fancy writting an article on “How to Apply Labels”? LOL

  3. Haha! My article would consist of “Wear protective gloves, use a laser sight to thread the needle and failing that just ask your grandmother, she’s probably a pro”

  4. My poor hands Jo. My poor hands.
